The President of the United States

(Canadian press on President OBama.)

America - He's your President for Goodness Sake! By William Thomas

There was a time not so long ago when Americans, regardless of their political stripes, rallied round their president. Once elected, the man who won the White House was no longer viewed as a Republican or Democrat, but the President of the United States. The oath of office was taken, the wagons were circled around the country, and it's orders and it was America versus the rest of the world with the president of all the people at the helm.
Suddenly President Barack Obama, with the potential to become an exceptional president has become the glaring exception to that unwritten, patriotic rule.
Four days before President Obama's inauguration, before he officially took charge of the American government, Rush Limbaugh boasted publicly that he hoped the president would fail. Of course, when the president fails the country flounders......duh
Wishing harm upon your country in order to further your own narrow political views is selfish, sinister and a tad treasonous as well.
Subsequently, during his State of the Union address, which is pretty much a pep rally for America, an unknown congressional representative from South Carolina, later identified as Joe asshole Wilson, stopped the show when he called the President of the United States a liar. The president showed great restraint in ignoring this unprecedented insult and carried on with his speech. Speaker Nancy Pelosi was so stunned by the slur, she forgot to jump to her feet while clapping wildly, 30 or 40 times after that.
Last spring, President Obama took his wife Michelle to see a play in New York City and republicans attacked him over the cost of security for the excursion. The president cannot take his wife out to dinner and a show without being scrutinized by the political opposition? As history has proven, a president in a theatre without adequate security is a tragically bad idea. Remember: Apart from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?
At some point, the treatment of President Obama went from offensive to ugly and then to downright dangerous.
The health-care debate, which looked more like extreme fighting in a mud pit than a national dialogue, revealed a very vulgar side of America. President Obama's face appeared on protest signs white-faced and blood-mouthed in a satanic clown image. In other tasteless portrayals, people who disagreed with his position distorted his face to look like Hitler complete with mustache and swastika.
Odd, that burning the flag makes Americans crazy, but depicting the president as a clown and a maniacal fascist is accepted as part of the new rude America.
Maligning the image of the leader of the free world is one thing, putting the president's life in peril is quite another. More than once, men with guns were videotaped at the health-care rallies where the president spoke. Again, history shows that letting men with guns get within range of a president has not served America well in the past.
And still the birther's out there claiming Barack Obama was not born in the United States , although public documentation proves otherwise. Hawaii is definitely part of the United States, but the Panama Canal Zone where his electoral opponent Senator John McCain was born? Nobody cares.
Last month, a 44-year-old woman in Buffalo was quite taken by President Obama when she met him in a chicken wing restaurant called Duff's. Did she say something about a pleasure and an honor to meet the man or utter encouraging words for the difficult job he is doing? No. Quote: You're a hottie with a smoking little body.
Lady, that was the President of the United States you were addressing, not one of the Jonas Brothers! He's your president for goodness sakes, not the guy driving the Zamboni at Monster Trucks On Ice. Maybe next it'll be, Take Your President To A Topless Bar Day.
In President Barack Obama, Americans have a charismatic leader with a good and honest heart. Unlike his predecessor, he's a very intelligent leader. And unlike that presidents predecessor, he's a highly moral man.
In President Obama, Americans have the real deal, the whole package and a leader that citizens of almost every country around the world look to with great envy. Given the opportunity, Canadians would trade our leader, hell, most of our leaders for Obama in a heartbeat.
What America has in Obama is a head of state with vitality and insight and youth. Think about it, Barack Obama is a young Nelson Mandela. Mandela was the face of change and charity for all of Africa but he was too old to make it happen. The great things Obama might do for America and the world could go on for decades after he's out of office. America, you know not what you have.
The man is being challenged unfairly, characterized with vulgarity and treated with the kind of deep disrespect to which no previous president was subjected. It's like the day after electing the first black man to be president, thereby electrifying the world with hope and joy, Americans sobered up and decided the bad old days were better.
President Obama may fail but it will not be a Richard Nixon default fraught with larceny and lies. President Obama, given a fair chance, will surely succeed but his triumph will never come with a caveat like with President Clinton "if only he'd got control of that zipper!"
Please. Give the man a fair, fighting chance. This incivility toward the leader who won over Americans and gave hope to billions of people around the world that their lives could be enhanced by his example, just naturally has to stop.
Believe me, when Americans drive by the White House and see a sign on the lawn that reads: No shirt. No shoes. No service, they'll realize this new national rudeness has gone way, way too far.

and I add............

I don't know if this is true but seems like a good plan...

MASS exodus out of Florida

Only 49 more states to go!

Hooray for Florida !

I-95 and I-75 will be jammed for the next month or so with druggies and deadbeats heading North out of Florida, because this is the first state in the union to require drug testing to receive welfare!

Hooray for Florida! In signing the new law, Republican Gov. Rick Scott said, "If Floridians want welfare, they better make sure they are drug-free."

Applicants must pay for the drug test, but are reimbursed if they test drug-free. Applicants who test positive for illicit substances, won't be eligible for the funds for a year, or until they undergo treatment. Those who fail a second time will be banned from receiving funds for three years!

Naturally, a few people are crying this is unconstitutional.
How is this unconstitutional? It's a legal requirement that every person applying for a job has to pass drug tests in order to get the job, why not those who receive welfare?

Trees....

I have this tree analogy when I think of people in my life, be it friends, family, acquaintances, employees, co-workers, whomever...They are all placed inside what I call my tree test. It goes like this:

LEAF PEOPLE
Some people come into your life and they are like leaves on a tree. They are only there for a season. You can't depend on them or count on them because they are weak and only there to give you shade. Like leaves, they are there to take what they need and as soon as it gets cold or a wind blows in your life they are gone. You can't be angry at them, it's just who they are.

BRANCH PEOPLE
There are some people who come into your life and they are like branches on a tree. They are stronger than leaves, but you have to be careful with them. They will stick around through most seasons, but if you go through a storm or two in your life it's possible that you could lose them. Most times they break away when it's tough. Although they are stronger than leaves, you have to test them out before you run out there and put all your weight on them. In most cases they can't handle too much weight. But again, you can't be mad with them, it's just who they are.

ROOT PEOPLE
If you can find some people in your life who are like the roots of a tree then you have found something special. Like the roots of a tree, they are hard to find because they are not trying to be seen. Their only job is to hold you up and help you live a strong and healthy life. If you thrive, they are happy. They stay low key and don't let the world know that they are there. And if you go through an awful storm they will hold you up. Their job is to hold you up, come what may, and to nourish you, feed you and water you.

Just as a tree has many limbs and many leaves, there are few roots. Look at your own life. How many leaves, branches and roots do you have? What are you in other people's lives?

THANK GOD FOR YOUR ROOTS!
You may want to call them today or share this message with them and attach your own note saying, "thanks for being my root".

By the way, don't waste your time sending this to a leaf, they won't get it anyway.

 I got this email today...

Seems Everybody's got an opinion and wants to share it...with me...
and I am sharing ...with you.....LOL

Don't be mad at me if you disagree...Show up at the polls and do your own thing...

Below is an email from Brenda Witt, a MoveOn member who created a petition on SignOn.org, the nonprofit site that allows anyone to start their own online petition. If you have concerns or feedback about this petition, click here.

Dear MoveOn member,
Last night, Paul Ryan lied to the American people. Some journalists and outlets covered Ryan's lies. But others failed to check the facts and didn't call Ryan out on his brazen lies.
In this crucial election, news reporters have an obligation to educate the public about the facts regarding the major issues and call out the candidates every time they lie.
That's why I created a petition urging the major news corporations—ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, and MSNBC—to live up to their obligation to report the truth. The petition says:
Mainstream media: Fact-check and call out candidates when they lie. You have an obligation as journalists to educate the public on the facts of the major campaign issues.
Here is a list of five lies that Paul Ryan told when he gave his speech at the Republican National Convention last night. Every single news outlet should report on these lies.
1. Lie: President Obama is the "greatest threat" to Medicare.
Truth: Obama didn't make any cuts to Medicare benefits; he made cuts to provider reimbursements, to improve cost efficiency and extend the fiscal security of Medicare by eight years. According to the Medicare actuary, "[Obama's] Affordable Care Act makes important changes to the Medicare program and substantially improves its financial outlook."1
But Ryan actually does want to cut benefits. He proposed dismantling Medicare and replacing it with a voucher system, leaving millions of seniors to come up with more money to pay for care out of pocket.2,3
2. Lie: President Obama didn't save a General Motors plant in Wisconsin.
Truth: First, Obama wasn't even in office when the GM plant closed. Second, Obama never made a promise to save it.4
3. Lie: President Obama ignored recommendations of a bipartisan debt commission.
Truth: Paul Ryan actually sat on that commission. And he led Republicans in voting down the commission's own recommendation. So the commission never gave a report to Obama, because Ryan himself voted to kill the report before it could.5
4. Lie: President Obama is responsible for the downgrading of the U.S. Credit Rating.
Truth: House Republicans, including Paul Ryan, held the full faith and credit of the United States hostage to try to ransom it for trillions of dollars in cuts to social programs without increasing taxes on the wealthy one dime. Standard & Poor's said specifically, "We have changed our assumption on [revenue] because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues." That's why our nation's credit rating was downgraded.6,7
5. Lie: Ryan wants to protect the "weak."
Truth: Ryan's biggest feat in his political career was proposing a budget with dramatic cuts to programs benefiting the poor. He'd cut Medicaid by one third, take away health care insurance from 30 million Americans, and cut Pell Grants for 1 million students. All so that he could give more tax breaks to the rich.8
Thanks!

Babies dying in the heat...

Every time the news reports of another baby left in a hot car,I get pissed....

Not so much at the parent or caregiver but at all the smart ass people out there inventing stupid shit...

Dear Baby Seat Companies,
Please have your guys get up off their rears and create a heat sensor that sounds an alarm when the temp nears a dangerous level...The sensor would be weight sensitive (to detect baby in seat),heat sensitive and have alarm loud enough to hear outside the car.....I would rather a baby have hearing loss than be dead...

                                    signed......a Grammah Queen

Parents : SLOW DOWN ! and THINK.....You have completely lost your focus when you cannot remember your baby in the car....
and then you will be forever focused on the shame, guilt, stigma and misery of losing your precious gift....

the Cellphone and The Bible

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several times a day?

What if we turned back to go get it, if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?

What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go....hmm...where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing.

Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

 And no dropped calls!

Makes you stop and think 'where are my priorities?

When Jesus died on the cross, he was thinking of us!

First...Thank you to my Number ONE fan....SF...

Now,I got thoughts running rampant through the hallways of my mind...Jeepers!

Why are kids no longer being taught Cursive Writing?

Does this mean that kids will receive a Social Security Number,a DNA Profile and an Electronic Signature Card based on Fingerprints and Eyeball  Identification? AT BIRTH?

I am very old-school...very old...senior citizen old....and I think that I kinda keep up with stuff going on..HOWEVER.....

Dang! got to go......

Sunday

Today's church service was confirmation that all my thoughts are not dippy.....Yea me!!!

Lately,I have been thinking and talking about the things going on around me...the weather, human behavior, world news.etc....It's like WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON???

Today Pastor reminded us that we are visitors in this world...We are not supposed to look, act, think like the unbeliever...I often feel like an oddity because I do not look, act, think or do as others....I am a child of  The Most High and that lone fact makes me special....I am highly favored by God and it shows.....

Ever notice how whack the weather gets every time  a spaceship launches?...What really is the purpose of space travel?...to find a place to live when man has destroyed this planet?...to see if God created any other beings?...to spend a bunch of money that could better serve the people of this planet?...to touch the face of God?...what??

We have allowed God to be removed from most everything and everywhere and we wonder where the morality of people has gone...The Bible gives us instructions for living and we think we know better?...Now many of our children are spoiled, lazy, bratty, disrespectful, uncaring, mean and just plain nasty....What happened to spare the rod and spoil the child?...What happened to teach them in the way they should go?...What happened to the villages that helped to raise the child?....

Be forewarned - If your child is in my presence and acts like an Ass - I WILL attempt correction...I do not allow your child to show me his underwear - I am not interested,he or she can advertise their butt crack someplace else...I will not allow cursing, ill manners or general BS...I have the right to disallow crazy in my space...

and why is it so dang important to see photos of a deceased terrorist?...I am thankful for a thoughtful President Obama....

jeepers...got to shut down...storm coming,again....

Pre - Labor Day News

I am back home after a few days with my MOM...It is so hard to see her not feeling well...She is usually so vibrant...She is also aging as we all are...She says that being 78 is great until you get sick - takes too long to recover...and besides, how can she beat me at Scrabble if she is laying down...My Mom is quite computer savvy too...She has a huge flat screen monitor, loves Vista and her HP computer set-up......

I have learned so much from my Mom...It is she that taught me the value of education and always to continue learning....My passion for crafting came from her...I learned couture sewing and clothing design right along side her...When she took a Dress Design course by mail (many, many years ago) I took the course too...As she received instruction, she became my teacher....When she took Doll Making and Repair (again by mail) I was able to learn that too...However,I focused more on dress designs for Barbie Dolls and for my Audrey Hepburn Paper Dolls....

Mom has many published articles in Threads,Sew News and other magazines and newspapers...She once had a doll factory in Louisville,Kentucky, has been on television and taught soft doll making in Nashville,Tennessee....She is a Certified Genealogist and has traced her own family back to slavery....She is adding the finishing touches to her memoirs that span from her early childhood to present day...A lot of things change in 70 years......

Why am I writing about my MOM??..........I guess I am remembering how much I love her and how much she has shaped the person that I am...........Moms are great! and God paired me up with a goodie.........

Hug a Mom today....If you can't hug yours - hug somebody else's..........

4. It never ceases to amaze me - the amount of items that I have here in such a small space...Well,I guess it would be a big space if it were better organized...Anyway - I loaded boxes into every inch of my car except the driver seat and off to the Thrift Store they went....

I have also taken many, many articles of clothing to my Church...We have a large mobile home on the property to house our Food Pantry and Clothes Closet...It's like walking into a Boutique, very nice..........but alas,I still have much to do........God is Good and I am Abundantly Blessed.........

Items are added often and that thing you are looking for may appear at any time...Combined shipping is available,so don't hesitate to take advantage of the savings......
